Medical system without para-medical in Kumaon

From the government to the health directorate, it claims to provide better health facilities to the people in the Kumaon division. But the ground reality is that there is a huge shortage of medical officers to para-medical staff across the board. Health department also has shortage of ministerial staff across Kumaon. In such a situation, the claims of better treatment to the people are proving to be meaningless, on the other hand, the work in the offices of the health department is also getting affected.

According to the Health Department, a total of 1173 posts of Medical Officers are sanctioned in Kumaon Division while 752 posts are filled and 421 posts are still vacant. Among these, maximum number of posts are vacant in Almora, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar. The biggest shortage of paramedical staff is in US Nagar, Pithoragarh, Almora and Nainital. Most of the posts of ministerial personnel are vacant in Almora and Bageshwar. Health Director Dr. Tara Arya was contacted in this regard but he did not receive the call.

Correspondence is done from time to time with the government and the directorate to remove the shortage of medical staff in Kumaon division. ANM was to be recruited but it was stayed by the court.
