Dr. Robert Reece will discuss his latest book, the story of a 20th-century family whose lives are haunted by personal losses, two world wars, the Great Depression, family tragedies and triumphs, and the constant happenings of the outside world. Based on a true story, its tapestry is woven with invented scenes and fictional dialogues. It is ultimately a story of redemption and resilience. Talk is free. Donations welcome.
Dr. Robert Reece is Emeritus Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Tufts University School of Medicine and former Director of Child Protection at Tufts Medical Center. He directed the pediatric emergency room at Boston City Hospital from 1974 to 1978 and the hospital’s child protection program until 1989, practicing pediatrics in Falmouth. He was Medical Director of the Child Protection Program at Boston Children’s Hospital and started the Child Protection Program at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, returning in 1993 to Boston and the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. From 1994 to 2010, he was a member of the pediatrics faculty at Tufts Medical Center.
Dr. Robert Reece is the author of three volumes of “Child Abuse: Medical Diagnosis and Management” (American Academy of Pediatrics Publication); Author of two volumes of “Child Abuse Treatment: Common Ground for Mental Health, Medical and Legal Practitioners,” (Johns Hopkins University Press), and “Inflicted Childhood Neurotrauma,” published by the American Academy of Pediatrics in 2003. He has published 48. Peer-reviewed articles and 26 book chapters.
