Could mankind learn to cure or avoid diseases and afflictions such as cancer or Alzheimer’s by studying the evolution of animals?
In “The Book of Animal Secrets: Nature’s Lessons for a Long and Happy Life” (to be published March 7 by Simon & Schuster, a division of Paramount Global, the parent company of CBS), Dr. David Agus examines how genetics The behavior and diet of animals have preserved them in their environments – lessons that can be used to our advantage, if we pay attention to them.
This book was born out of desperation. I read scientific and medical journals daily to stay ahead of all the latest developments and innovations. But I am always somewhat disappointed when I follow the progress of medicine. We are getting successes, there is no doubt about it. I see diseases that were once fatal are now being managed over the long term.
And yet when I learn of another species that has adapted to the same environment that we have but done so much better—an elephant that will survive cancer despite its size, a giraffe that will survive high blood pressure in spite of won’t experience cardiovascular problems, a queen ant that can outlive her genetically identical mates by a factor of eighty—I wonder what we can learn from those adaptations and how we can apply them to our long, How to take advantage to stay healthy and happy. How can we hack our system?
Book Review – “The Book of Animal Secrets” by Dr. David Agus
It’s a book about what we can learn from other creatures—the ones we love and the ones we loathe and the ones we don’t think much about—to improve our own health, longevity, and even how to think and feel. To inform ways of relating to others.
Human evolution has happened over millions of years, and when we’re studying it, one thing we miss is that every other creature on Earth is also evolving, figuring out how to deal with dangerous stresses. How to handle, breed, and thrive. Many people have had much more time to perfect themselves and to adapt to themselves and their environment.
Many never get cancer, become obese, suffer from anxiety and depression, succumb to infections, show signs of heart disease, experience disturbances in their neurology such as dementia or Parkinson’s disease, diabetes fall ill with autoimmune disorders, or even develop outward signs of aging. such as thinning gray hair, wrinkles and arthritic joints.
Some life forms can hear without ears, see without eyes, remain fertile until death, regenerate lost organs, return to a younger stage in the life cycle, Bole can communicate with each other or even use what we think of as language, and can think without a mind.
Most of us don’t think about evolution, but it’s worth considering. Evolution can help us understand ourselves better and also learn how to live better. It can often provide a framework for navigating what appears to be a difficult, chaotic world; providing guidelines for making good decisions and accepting harsh realities; And explain both health and disease. This book will open you from a new perspective.
