Pediatric Intensive Care Protocols Of AIIMS
In 2011, the first edition of the pediatric intensive care protocols of AIIMS was released. All of the pediatricians, intensivists and other specialists who read the book praised it highly. The pathophysiology of diseases and how to treat them have become clearer as more research is done and more people get sick. In order to use lab results to improve patient care, it is important to update methods based on the latest evidence in the AIIMS PICU protocol.
The field of pediatrics is just starting out in India and other underdeveloped countries. The field of pediatric critical care is becoming increasingly important. Separate pediatric intensive care units can only be found in a small number of institutions across India, both public and private (PICU). As the number of people with critical illnesses and how bad they are getting worse, and as the amount of evidence for and against different treatments and interventions for this population grows, so does the difficulty of caring for these people. There is a strong link between using modern equipment and better ways to handle and help kids. Having highly skilled people working in PICUs is crucial as well.
Healthcare in any field, particularly pediatrics, relies heavily on a well-trained medical team. Residents and nurses who work in the AIIMS PICU protocol need regular training to make sure they can give patients the best care possible. A protocol-based approach helps with training and makes sure that treatment stays the same even if a new resident or nurse is sent to the PICU.
It is helpful to keep track of the results of implementing new protocols in the PICU in an unbiased way. To do this, we need to gather baseline information before launching the protocol. After that, information about the procedure and the patient’s outcome is gathered. These findings should inform a reevaluation and, if necessary, revision of the protocols in pediatric intensive care protocols of AIIMS.
The AIIMS PICU protocol has been updated and edited a lot, and there are many new chapters that cover all aspects of caring for children who are very sick. We appreciate the time and effort put in by the whole department’s faculty and staff. We would also like to thank the staff at the Indian Journal of Pediatrics, especially Miss Nidhi Mehta, Mr. Rajiv Dhir, and Ms. Hema, for their help in getting this book published on schedule.
